Why Should the Groom Look Be Boring?

In our editorial wedding shoot "From Grape to Gown", we set out to break the mold. Why should grooms always be stuck in stiff suits and predictable ties? This look challenges the norm — a blend of baroque detailing, old-world fabrics, and modern tailoring, all styled with confidence and intention. It’s fashion with a story, full of elegance and quiet rebellion.

As wedding planners at Momentfest, we believe every part of the couple’s styling — including the groom — deserves a moment in the spotlight.

The Look: Timeless Meets Effortless

The groom wore a navy-blue pinstriped jacket, layered over pleated 1920s-inspired trousers. His black-and-white loafers gave the ensemble a graphic twist — bold yet sophisticated.

But the true statement?A delicate piece of vintage lace from a bridal veil, reimagined as a baroque-style neckpiece, gently tied around an open-collared shirt. It was unexpected, rich in meaning, and completely editorial. A poetic nod to tradition, reworked into something entirely now.

The Setting: Editorial Drama Meets Berlin Elegance

Shot in a historic Berlin Altbau apartment, the atmosphere was cinematic and intimate. Marble floors, wooden staircases, and grand proportions set the tone. The table styling paired dark grapes, artichokes, aged silver, and copper plates with layered textures in champagne, cream, deep reds, and candlelight. The groom’s look wasn’t just appropriate — it felt like part of the story.

4 Tips to Pull Off a Groom Look That Breaks the Mold:

  1. Choose fabrics with meaningVintage or repurposed textiles bring soul and depth — think heirlooms, antique lace, or reclaimed details.

  2. Rethink accessoriesA veil becomes a bow. A ribbon becomes a tie. Step away from what’s expected.

  3. Say no to the uniformPatterns, pleats, bold shoes — choose elements that reflect your personality, not a template.

  4. Let your look tell a storyThink of your outfit as part of the overall narrative. Let it echo the mood, colors, and feel of the day.

Final Thought:

A groom doesn’t have to disappear into a plain suit. His styling can express emotion, heritage, and individuality — and when done right, it becomes a standout element of the entire day. This is wedding styling for the modern era: artful, intentional, and timelessly cool.

Let your wedding look speak. Let it whisper history and scream style.
